   I fairly wish I could have an office in a lab with test tubes, tanks of various gasses, emergency eye wash systems, white coats, etc.

   I do not have time right now to re-compose my lost comment. One big problem I can state here, briefly, is that this article is not even real science but rather the author's, and perhaps the experimenters', use of the illusion of scientific study to advance and prove conclusively (i.e., “the science says”) a moral/political point(s). Their white lab coats but disguise the black priest-frocks they wear underneath. (By contrast, notably, the monk-scientist Mendel, was not biased or motivated by any moral agenda in his seminal studies of what we now call genetics.) Why should one treat of such with any less skepticism and critical thinking as one would treat so-called “creation science?” Why does the author immediately leap – right at the beginning of the article – to the conclusion that “classical economic theory” – i.e., capitalism and economic freedom – is disproven by these two experiments and some speculative evolutionary theorizing? Why is an evolutionary basis for “altruism” a proper object of scientific study? (Note that the study of spite is here made an adjunct to the advancement of what the author calls “altruism.”) And does it not presume far too much that man is truly altruistic in the first place? That seems to me to be begging an important preliminary question. I do not see much evidence to support this proposition, in human history or in my observations of human behavior, these behavioral experiments notwithstanding. It is, in my view, fairly easy to show that true altruism does not really enter human life until Judaism, and does not become any widespread civilizational moral virtue until Christianity arose. The origins of altruism and of moral justice – as we think of and value these qualities – all of us in Western Civilization, whether religious or secular – are to be found in the Torah, hsitories and prophets, and in the parables of Jesus, and not in the workings of evolution. I'm outa time now, but more later, I hope . . .
