We are planning a waterbirth at home. I know the inlaws won't approve...how to approach?
My father-in-law is a physician and I'm sure they will take issue with us choosing to do a homebirth with a midwife. Their opinion isn't going to change my mind; I've done a ton of research and know that decision is best for us and for the baby, especially since I have "white coat anxiety" and have a blood pressure spike when I'm in a hospital or doctor's office (which they would inevitably misinterpret as preeclampsia). I also only live 5 min. from two hospitals should anything go wrong.
So the question is, how do you think we should approach the subject, if at all? We may have to address it if they ask which hospital I'm going to. If it doesn't come up, should we just have the baby and call them after the birth? They live about 3 hours away. I do NOT want my mother-in-law present for the birth. I love her but she can be very overbearing. Advice?
Good luck hon! It sounds like you are trying to handle it the best way you can. I can only agree that it might be best to call them after the baby is born and not mention the water birth until later (if ever). Ultimately, it is your decision on how you want to give birth, but you don't need a lot of fuss made over the matter by your in-laws, especially when you have already made up your mind for your own reasons. I would have a very no-nonsense description of the proceedings in mind, and also a list of the benefits for you, just in case the issue does come up before the birth takes place. That way, at least you'll be prepared to explain it simply. Good luck, and congratulations!

white tongue... : / if you have medical experience please read.?
okay, so i went to the gyn the other day..turns out like i thought i had a minor yeast infection. i've been on the medicine and everything seems to be fine down there however i noticed my tongue is getting something that resembles a white coating. i asked my gyn about it and she told me to see my regular physician. i went to my doctor and she told me that there seemed to be nothing wrong and sometimes when you feel under the weather you can get this symptom. however, i am still freaked out about my tongue and i don't want any conditions to get any worse, so even though both medical professionals i went too said it did not appear to be thrush or a yeast infection in my mouth, i am very worried and want to know what it is or how i can fix this. any information is much appreciated thank you.
If your tongue is white and furry, it sounds a lot like oral thrush to me. Consider checking with a pharmacist, or getting a second opinion from another GP.

Well..an interesting howto that would come in handy at packed events …maybe.
Also long-winded, at least according to one observer. I attribute that to the quote I made from the Big Blog; Pastrami Linden wanted to be complete, and I figured it was a good thing to include it all for the same reason.
This article is not without its disbelievers; see the comments at New World Notes. Needless to say, I prefer to regard my words as pearls of wisdom, something that should be committed to memory and recited by schoolchildren every year at major national events….
