   I think that wearing scrubs to Mass is fine. I'm sure people will understand your situation.

   There are only two times during the Mass when we make the Sign of the Cross — at the beginning when the priest says "Let us begin in the name of the Father …", and at the end when he blesses us just before dismissing us.

   Kneeling is done primarily during the Eucharistic Prayer (about two-thirds of the way through Mass), and just before Communion. You'll see when that happens. (In some Catholic parishes today, they don't even kneel; they just stand during those parts of the Mass.)

   One more thing: if you're not Catholic, you should not receive Communion (unless you're a member of an Eastern Orthodox church).

   I know this sounds exclusionary and a little mean, but receiving Communion means that you believe it to be the actual Body and Blood of Christ.

   Since most non-Catholics don't believe that, though, you would be actually violating your own beliefs by saying "Amen" when the priest says "the Body of Christ" and then receiving it.

   Receiving Communion also means that a person accepts and believes ALL of the Catholic Church's doctrinal and moral teachings — something that non-Catholics would not be able to do in good conscience.

   But you're more than welcome to attend Mass, and to unite with us in prayer.

   The idea that Palin is some kind of successful athlete is my favorite part of her bizarre reality-bending mythos. She was a scrub cross country runner and an OK basketball player. Can anyone really be crazy enough to think that large numbers of liberals are intimidated by this?

   That is aw some that you wear scrubs to Catholic mass. God loves His children that study medicine to make life more comfortable for one another. You would be welcomed for sure. No-one AT ALL would be "offended" by not knowing the blessings done with the outward body. I would not try to do it. Besides, Listen, when I started to go to mass as a child ( like 100 years ago ) the ritual was so different as it is today. We genuflected the pew before we sat, we again genuflected if we walked past the sanctuary, and again to exit the pew. Now, no one genuflects,dont worry about it. You go & worship God. He will bless you for it.

   Go as you are, weekday mass is much more casual then sunday and a good way to get to know the mass. Sit in the back at first so you can get used to when to sit and stand and kneel, but the folks will be welcoming and freindly if you stay after the first time and ask someone for help. or do it the second or third time or when you are ready.

   I bet you will make friends there when you finally do talk to someone.
