Why is my nursing lab lossing her hair?
My Black Lab gave birth on new years to one pup. The problem is she's lossing all her hair and beginning to itch herself till she bleeds. I've been told it's called blowing her coat, but no body has heard anything about her chewing and scratching herself raw. Please help!
She may have a nutritional defiecency from nursing. Some dogs can get it nursing 1 pup or 10, its the way the body deals with milk production. Also to boot Labs are notorious for developing skin problems from food allergies. Being pregnant and nursing is probably exasperating the problems buy really pouring hormones and histomines in to the body. This is a serious problem. She could get an infection from scratching the skin open, besides its really uncomfortable. She most likely has some allergies or a deficency. Get her to your vet, and its time to supplement or change the diet.
