What to patients feel about the new NHS Dress code?
Doctors cannot wear ties, watches, rings with stones, show offensive tattoos, piercings other than one pair of earrings, and cannot wear a long sleeve shirt or suit jacket/lab coat to examine you in.
This is what I have observed:
When a Doctor leans over a patient, their tie nearly always drapes over the patient without them noticing = spread of infection.
Long sleeve shirt, jacket, lab coat = clothes touching the patient = spread of infection.
(Think about American programmes like ER, Scrubs, Nip Tuck - they all wear 'scrubs' which have short or 3/4 length sleeves - the surgeons AND the doctors).
Watches and rings with stones = hard to clean and a source of infection, the possibility of tearing gloves, and the possibility of scratching the patient.
One pair of earrings and tattoos = old fashioned predjudice (and who decides whether the tattoo is offensive or not?)

Can an inside dog be outside for a long period of time in very cold weather?
I have a 1.5 year old Pitt/Lab/Boxer mix. She doesn't have a very thick coat and is primarily an inside dog, only going outside to do her business, or on occasional walks when it is nice outside. Over the holidays we are traveling to see family, and the family member we are going to see doesn't allow dogs inside her home. Can a dog who is primarily an inside dog stay outside in extremely cold temperatures, often below freezing?
If you take your dog with you and you leave it outside in weather that is that cold, you may be coming home without your dog. She's going to freeze to death out there in freezing and below freezing weather! It would not be fair to her, for you to do that, especially in surroundings, she's not even familiar with! Why would you want to take a chance and expose her to those conditions, when she could be home safe and sound? I would leave her at home and either have a family member or someone you really trust, watch her or board her at your vets or a responsible kennel!
ADD: Angella! This poster said nothing about breeding her dog or the subject of puppies, so I don't know what you are thinking with your answer!

My only regret of taking CS is that there’s little opportunity to wear lab coats. Even in the so-called “software labs”.
White lab coats are used in hospitals for infection control, generally to cover street clothes or “dirty” scrubs that are in contact with patients. The hospital policy and procedure manual will specify what areas they are required in. For instance, in one hospital, when making rounds, medical and nursing instructors would wear long lab coats and medical students would wear short ones.
Need is the mother of invention. The concept is what is important. The execution, well, sometimes that doesn't materialize quite as expected. But if it works for the individual and it is safe, then that is okay too.
Rednecks in lab coats – hah! that is funny. Research scientists come in all sorts of colors, shapes, and sizes. A smorgasbord. Just like the megabox of crayons.
It is quite normal for a female to shed all her coat post whelping and they do look very malnourished during this time until their coat returns to its full glory.
One of my Goldens had a litter in February and she started to shed her coat when her pups were about 3months old. She lost all her beautiful fur and her tail looked like a piece of string. Now, 3 months later, her coat has grown back again and is looking magnificent.
Your girlie needs a lot of TLC and plenty of food to build her up and I'm sure she will be as right as rain in a couple of months. You are doing all the right things for her.

It depends on the condition she is in , If she is in poor condition or on a poor quality food it could take 3 or 4 months . Put her on a premium food with high protein , and supplement her with omega 3 and 6 or cod liver oil. and powdered kelp . this will help her
PS I have never had a dog blow her coat with a litter of pups .
They only blow their coat if they are not getting proper nutrition while nursing.
Both milk and hair are made of protein , If the dog is not getting the right nutrition while nursing the body will quit wasting the bodies nutrition on hair and put it towards the milk for the puppies

There was a time when the only people in the Bell companies who had ponytails also walked around the halls at Murray Hill, NJ with white lab coats on.
