You are starting to bore me…you are all over the map. What she said? What she didn’t say? Who Barney sleeps with? WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT????
Congratulations on a great year – I love, love, love Blue Lab Coats and really enjoy your take on the challenges of the academic couple, parenting, being a woman in science and medicine, and all the tasty little morsels you serve up regularly. I don't comment or link as much as I should, but I do read – and enjoy your efforts, I do!
For the record, I think that Bora also found me and that I believe I piled on after the JP/DM/PP boyz steered me toward you.
Your message, experiences, and sharing the joys and pains of this business are an inspiration to us all. I'm honored to consider you a friend and colleague.
Happy anniversary!
[...] ameer wrote an interesting post today onHere’s a quick excerptI learned a lot reading Wendi Pedicone’s book, Hanging Out With Lab Coats. I have learned how to move forward in the face of adversity. I have learned why survivors have a different outlook on life then the rest of us. I have never had a serious life threatening disease but I have faced adversity. I don’t think I did it with the aplomb that Wendi and others I have known facing Cancer have. Wendi states it so well in her book: [...]
I think that in general, working at the bench in grad school is not good for your sartorial development. Who wants to wear nice clothes when you’re inevitably going to spill crap on it (lab coats, what are those?)? I knew another student who wore miniskirts and stilettos every day in lab, and I never understood that. My wardrobe has devolved entirely to jeans, v-neck tees, and close-toed non-sneaker shoes with copious arch support. I consider myself well-dressed when the bleach stains are at a minimum – clearly I haven’t been doing any cloning or cell culture work lately because my clothes are mostly bleach spot-free.
Steaming lab coats for the last hour and a half – who knew they would be soo difficult to get wrinkle free!
