   Doctors protest plan for Obama Health care Reform

   WASHINGTON – Doctors are rallying together in protest of the president's plan for health care reform Thursday night, less than 24 hours after he laid out his plan.

   "Doctors for Patient Care" is a grassroots organization that's fired up over the president's health care plan. These doctors say it's critical that they make the medical decisions and fear Obama's plan would have the government stepping in.

   Gathered on the National Mall Thursday, a group of doctors and their supporters waved signs and spoke out against the president's health care plan. ABC 7 Talkback:

   They say they support health care reform but definitely not the plan announced Wednesday night which includes a public option.

   "We must fix this. We must fix it right and we must not fix it quickly. There's no urgency other than do the job right," said Dr. Peter E. Lasina.

   But speaking to a group of nurses Thursday, President Obama said the matter is urgent. "I will not permit reform to be postponed or periled by the usual ideological diversions," he said.

   His focus is not only on reaching out over party lines, but also unifying his own party. Many moderate Democrats don't want a public option in the plan.

   "I cant support the current House bill primarily because of some of my concerns about the cost," said Stephanie Herseth Sandlin, D-S.D.

   But others like Penny Spinney were moved by the president's speech Wednesday night and have faith that the plan to insure all Americans can and will work.

   "I can't imagine how people are surviving if they don't have it. It becomes everyone's problem," she said.

   guppy – I'm not completely clear what your question is, but I will try to help.

   It is certainly safe for someone with "white coat hypertension" to get a nuclear stress test. The dose of radiation that a patient is exposed to during a nuclear stress test is low, comparable to that from 2-4 CT scans depending on which isotope your hospital uses. Also, if your doctor chooses to do an adenosine stress test, the adenosine can occasionally lead to transient heart block or cause bronchospasm in people with asthma. However, both of these resolve very quickly once the adenosine is stopped.

   Whether you actually NEED a stress test is an entirely different question. The reason to do a stress test is if you are having symptoms that you doctor thinks might be due to coronary disease. The stress test us if you are more likely or less likely to have real coronary disease. Another reason is for risk stratification for people who are preparing to undergo a major surgery. If you are not having any symptoms that are concerning for heart disease (chest pain or pressure, pain down your arm, nausea with exercise, etc.) then having a nuclear stress test may not be of much benefit to you. It would help if you give us some more info in this regard.

   Mercola’s information is standard faire. It acts like a a doorman greeting you into a room of snake oil salesman in doctor coats. I don’t allow his junk email onto my browser anymore. Mercola is NOT a source of ‘Good’ news – just news used as a facade. That is the worst kind of news.

   Sorry, but there's nothing you can really do until she realises what she really needs and wants, all you can do is try to persuade her or if her and the kids are getting physically abused, call the cops!

   This is probably the most difficult thing in the relationship world. The girl you're talking about is in a really bad situation. Of course she wants to try to make it work with him, he's the father of her children. She probably hopes more than anything that he'll just get better. She more than likely feels as if part of it is her fault that he's not.
   It is worse on the children, for the parents to stay together for the children. It would be better on the children if the parents were to split. But there's really not too much you can actually do. She's not going to leave him until she's absolutely ready to. And even then she's going to be scared out of her mind. She's not going to believe she can do it without him, she's going to fear being alone. She's going to fear the unexpected. She's in a really bad situation that is more confusing than anything you could ever imagine.
   The best thing you can do for her, is be there. Be there for her in anyway that she needs you to be. She's going to go up and down, it's going to be a roller coaster. A terrible, emotional, heart wrenching roller coaster. You need to reassure her that everything will be fine, that she is strong enough to do what is right for herself and her children. You need to reassure her that you will be there for her however she needs you to be, and then follow through with that.
   The best thing really is just to be a friend. That sounds terrible, but it is the one thing she needs more than anything.
   I can't guarantee that it won't hurt either. It's going to hurt, and it's going to be bad. You're going to get to the point where you just want to throw your hands into the air. But you mustn't. You need to remember how difficult it is for her, try to empathize with her.
   If this plays out like most relationships like this, she's going to leave him and return multiple times, before actually leaving him. She needs to get brave. She needs to know that she is a good mother. She needs to know that she is strong enough. She needs to know that there is a life out there waiting for her that's better, but she just has to accept it. She needs to know that you will be there for her. She needs to know that it's not going to be easy, but she can do it. And she needs to know that her children will pull through, and they will be all right. But she can't take care of her children if she can't take care of herself. If she wants what's best for her children, then she needs to think about what's best for herself, and if the father really is no good.

    Its better to be safe than sorry, especially when it comes to your children. But even if he is developmentally delayed, it doesn't mean he will be that way forever. You just have to keep practicing with him and teaching him at home. And if you need professional help, get it.
